Leaks and Mold

Water accumulation in indoor environments can lead to the growth of mold and other microbial organisms, some of which may cause allergic reactions in certain individuals. Indoor mold growth can be prevented or minimized by addressing water intrusion, such as leaks or floods, and water damaged materials immediately. You can view the Water Intrusion Policy (UNI required) and information about the New York State Department of Labor’s mold assessment and remediation (.pdf).

If you are in a non-residential space and see an active leak, call the Customer Service Center at 212-305-HELP (4357), option 3, to report it to our team. Please be ready to identify the building, room number, and type of space (such as a lab or office). Our teams will be dispatched to assess the nature of the leak, stop it, and clean the affected area.

If you see mold or suspect mold growth and would like an investigation of your work area, call the Customer Service Center at 212-305-HELP (4357), option 3, to request a walkthrough with a member of Campus Life Safety and Regulatory Compliance. Please provide the name and UNI for a point of contact, including the best phone number, and be ready to identify the building, room number, and the type of space (such as a lab or office). The more information you provide about the precise location of the suspected mold growth, the better we can assist.
