According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, over one million employees in the United States experience back injuries each year and 75% of those come from lifting tasks.
As part of CUMC's policy regarding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), any task that exposes employees to foot injuries will require that safety footwear, preferably steel-toed boots, be used.
Radiation and radioactive materials are used or stored in many areas at CUMC. Employees receive specialized training before entering some rooms posted with signs such as those pictured above.
