Hammer Bldg.: Emergency Vacuum System Shutdown, Thursday, May 4, 6-7 a.m.

The vacuum system throughout Hammer Health Sciences Center will be temporarily unavailable from 6 a.m. until approximately 7 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, due to construction-related activity taking place on the 2nd floor.

During this time, vacuum systems used to aspirate cell culture media in biosafety cabinets will also be unavailable. Per Environmental Health and Safety, investigators needing to withdraw media can employ an alternate manual approach using a mechanical pipetting device in the biosafety cabinet. Biosafety officers can be reached by email for consults at biosafety@columbia.edu.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation as we work to improve our facilities. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Fernando Bedoya, associate director of Capital Project Management at fb2330@cumc.columbia.edu.
