Hammer Bldg.: Domestic Water Shutdown on Floors 8-17, Dec. 17

Hot and cold water service will be temporarily unavailable on floors 8 through 17 of Hammer Health Sciences Center from 4 p.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021, to approximately 12 a.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021, due to repairs.

During this time, hot and cold water will be unavailable on floors 8 through 17. Restrooms on the affected floors will also be inoperable; please use restrooms located on floors 7 and below. Once the repairs are completed, please allow faucets to run for several minutes to ensure constant flow and pressure. Water may appear brown at first, but will turn clear as it continues to run

It is suggested that all laboratory work with hazardous materials–including chemicals, biological, and radiological materials—on affected floors be suspended while water service is unavailable due to the lack of available water for emergency eyewashes, handheld deluge hoses, and overhead emergency showers. Laboratories should perform their routine, weekly performance test on each emergency eyewash and handheld deluge hose once water services on the affected floors resume normal operations to verify proper equipment function.
