What is your favorite thing about your current role?
I have the privilege of collaborating with exceptionally talented architects and engineers who specialize in interiors and cutting-edge technology for healthcare and life sciences. The CUIMC Facilities department is one of the most capable, intelligent, and diplomatic teams I've had the pleasure of working with. They provide an abundance of resources that simplify my job and offer a vast network of support, both professional and personal.
Who are your role models?
My role model was my father, who passed away at the age of 80. Throughout my childhood, he was my greatest advocate, supporting me in everything, big and small. He set high standards, instilled confidence, and taught me to believe that anything is achievable through hard work and determination. His example shaped my parenting style, though I approach it with a less rigid, type-A approach.
Another significant influence in my life was my grade school art teacher, who submitted my artwork to a contest that ultimately became part of the White House's permanent collection. This pivotal moment deeply inspired my lifelong passion for art. I even wanted to be an artist when I grew up because of this.
What makes you smile?
Community building and teaching my daughters how to live an ethical life of gratitude, empathy, social belonging, and inclusion. Additionally, my 13-year-old served as concert master for the Manhattan School of Music Chamber ensemble this past summer. That brought a huge smile to my face.
Advice to your younger self?
Youth is the time to change your mind, take risks, thrive under stress to build resilience, and learn that failing is part of the process. That, and use more facial moisturizer and sunscreen, and use an umbrella when going to the beach.
How would you describe yourself in one word? Why
Superwoman. I’m a project manager professionally and domestically. I run my home like my work- a well-oiled organized machine on steroids.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I backpacked through Europe for a year, and I love visiting Taiwan. I can outcook anyone under the table and once performed at CBGB’s audition night playing bass for a band that was called Choking Victim!
