What do you enjoy about your current role?

I enjoy organizing, working on special projects, coordinating meetings and events, and aiding those who rely on me. I appreciate the dynamic nature of the role, as each day brings fresh challenges that allow me to learn and grow continually.

Who has been a role model to you?

My mom endured a hard life, remained optimistic, earned four degrees, and became a special education teacher.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

It changed throughout the years: I wanted to be a housewife 😊; a nurse; an accountant, which I realized was boring [Editor's note: Sorry, Finance, 🤷‍♂️]; and then a lawyer. I struggled with the last role because I couldn’t see myself defending someone I felt was guilty. I ultimately decided to study speech pathology to work with kids, but here I am.

What brings you joy?

My son and three pets–a Yorkie and two black cats I rescued.

Do you have a funny CUIMC memory?

In 2010, when I was pregnant with my son, I started getting contractions in the office. Everyone was panicking and a former colleague, Herman Matte, went looking for my husband, Jose, who was a custodial supervisor at the time. They finally got him on the radio, but Herman was ready to take me to the hospital. Herman nicknamed Jose “Happy Feet” because he always danced and goofed around. For the first time in his life, Jose had no jokes and looked pale as a ghost, which made us all laugh.

How would you describe yourself in one word? Why

Empathic. I am highly perceptive and sensitive to others' emotions.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

When I was younger, I was part of a dance group that performed at local fairs and participated in the National Puerto Rican Day parade as a cheerleader. That year, I met Eric Estrada from the famous television series "CHiPs".
