VP&S Bldg. Intermittent Power and Lighting Interruption, July 6

Facilities Management responded to a flood earlier today, July 6, that originated on the 2nd floor of the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons Building and impacted floors 2 down to the sub-basement. The Facilities team stopped the flood and is onsite working to assess the extent of related service outages and to restore them as quickly as possible.

Building Updates as of 1 p.m., July 6:

  • Normal power and lighting services are experiencing intermittent outages throughout the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons building.
  • All equipment plugged into emergency (red) outlets are unaffected. Fume hood service is also unaffected and remains operational at this time.
  • We encourage research personnel to check their labs located in the VP&S building to ensure normal operations. If you experience an issue, please call Public Safety at 212-305-8100 and a mechanic will be dispatched to address the issue.
  • Individuals with offices located on the 1st and 2nd floors of the VP&S building will receive separate emails about working from home.
  • Passenger elevator service in the VP&S building is currently unavailable. Please consider taking the stairs or using the elevators in the William Black Building or Vanderbilt Clinic.
  • The 1st Floor VP&S Student Lounge is temporarily unavailable.

We appreciate your patience and will share additional updates as they become available.
