UPDATE: ICRC Bldg.: Emergency Condenser Water Shutdown, Nov. 15

Due to unforeseen events, the emergency repairs on the condenser water system serving the ICRC Building have been rescheduled to 7 a.m. to approximately 7 p.m. on TUESDAY, November 15.

  • While the repairs are being completed, environmental boxes, supplemental air conditioning equipment, and specialized laboratory equipment will be temporarily unavailable throughout the entire building.
  • Normal air conditioning service will remain unaffected and will continue to operate normally throughout the building.
  • Rheim Plumbing will be on-site and working with Facilities staff on the second floor of ICRC throughout this disruption.
  • Scaffolding will be erected near the entry of the ICRC parking garage from Monday, November 14, through approximately Wednesday, November 16. During this time, vehicle entry into the garage will be modified. If you park in this garage, please follow the instructions of parking staff during this disruption.

All freezers, refrigerators, and environmental room doors should be kept closed and access should be prohibited during this shutdown period. Typically, this equipment will maintain its temperature as long as the doors are kept closed. Please note, placement of dry ice or cryogenic materials in cold rooms can create a hazardous, oxygen-deficient atmosphere and must be avoided. If necessary, please relocate critical materials to unaffected freezers for the duration of the shutdown.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation as we work to improve our facilities. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at 212-305-HELP (4357), option 3, or cumc.facilities@columbia.edu.
