Meet Joe Francomano

CARE stands for Construction and Refresh Effort, and you can find out more about these efforts on the CARE crew page. Joe Francomano, CARE group manager, is part of of the Capital Project Management team. In the nine years he has been here, you've probably walked past Joe more times than you know. He's a friendly and jovial guy who sometimes prefers to be behind the scenes. Among many things that Joe shared with us, he says his hidden talents are gardening, cooking, golf, bicycling, and being a handyman.

Joe Francomano

What are your most memorable CUIMC moments:

  1. The renovation of the conference room 103A in Hammer for Anna Getselman and the Augustus C. Long Health Sciences Library.
  2. Hammer 3rd floor corridor refresh.

What is your favorite thing about your current role?

I get so much satisfaction from managing the refreshes and renovations to the public spaces throughout CUIMC. I’ve received written and verbal responses from staff, students, and visitors on how nice the spaces look.

Who are your role models?

My cousin Jimmy and my father-in-law.

What brings you joy/?

My family. My wife and children. And I love to travel.

What advice would you give your younger self?

To save money and invest in real estate.

Do you have a funny CUIMC story?

It happened very recently! I attended the recent Facilities SWAP meeting and I was sitting at the table eating lunch when I bit a cherry tomato and somehow the inside of the tomato burst out of the side of my mouth onto a colleague sitting next to me.

How would you describe yourself in one word?

Friendly. I want to be liked. Being friendly makes me feel good about myself, and has helped me in the relationships I’ve had during my lifetime.
