Vagelos Innovation Laboratories FDNY Building-wide Fire Alarm Testing, June 17

As part of our ongoing FDNY-related fire alarm testing for the new Vagelos Innovation Laboratories, we will conduct building-wide fire alarm testing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17.

Highlights of What Expect:

  • Active Alarms: Occupants in Russ Berrie Medical Science Pavilion and the School of Nursing Building may notice short, intermittent horns, and/or strobes activated intentionally on each floor; please disregard these.
  • Elevator Recalls: There will be brief periods when all elevator cars in Russ Berrie Medical Science Pavilion and the School of Nursing Building recall to the lobby level of each building. Announcements will be made in the buildings prior to the start of testing. Please consider taking the stairs to help reduce elevator traffic and ensure access for those who need it.
  • Onsite Support: Representatives will walk throughout the floors prior to the testing periods and will present in each building lobby during the testing periods to answer questions or assist with any fire alarm testing-related issues that may arise.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation during this period of transformation at the medical center. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Jesenia Tejeda, project manager, at jt3433@cumc.columbia.edu.
