ICRC Bldg. Advisory: Temporary Hot Water Disruption, Oct. 4, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Hot water service in ICRC will be temporarily unavailable on Tuesday, October 4, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. due to scheduled hot water riser repairs.

During this time, all areas that use hot water will be unavailable, i.e., sinks, eyewash stations, and all showers etc. Cold water will be available and toilets are unaffected by this disruption.

It is suggested that all laboratory work with hazardous materials–including chemicals, biological, and radiological materials—in ICRC be suspended due to the lack of available hot water for emergency eyewashes, handheld deluge hoses, and overhead emergency showers. Laboratories should perform their routine, weekly performance test on each emergency eyewash and handheld deluge hose once water services resume normal operations to verify proper equipment function.

Please keep hot water faucets closed during this time. Once work is completed, please allow faucets to run for several minutes to ensure constant flow and pressure. Water may appear brown at first, but will turn clear as it continues to run.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation as we work to improve our facilities. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Anthony Roberts, East Campus Manager, at ar2883@cumc.columbia.edu
