Hammer Bldg. Lighting Upgrades Resume Sept. 8
September 5, 2025
Beginning Monday, September 8, we will be conducting a series of floor-by-floor lighting shutdowns as part of our lighting upgrade work in Hammer Health Sciences Center.
Highlights of What to Expect:
- Work will take place after 6 p.m. on weeknights, covering two floors each night. A floor-by-floor schedule will be shared with building occupants.
- All overhead lighting will be temporarily unavailable on the impacted floors only. Emergency lighting on the impacted floors will remain operational.
- Normal and emergency power outlets that support research and lab equipment, computers, and other low-voltage devices will not be affected.
Once the work is completed, crews will begin installing corridor Wi-Fi devices, followed by new LED lighting and controls; a detailed floor-by-floor schedule will be shared before this phase of work starts.
Activities listed here are subject to change based on approvals, University events, other requirements, and unforeseen circumstances. For questions about this project, contact Gabriel Villegas, senior project manager, at gv2328@cumc.columbia.edu.
