Noel Pagan

What’s your favorite thing to do in NYC during the holiday season?

We try to get together as a family and go to the Rockefeller tree lighting when we can.

Do you have any foods or drinks you especially like to eat or drink around the holidays?

We like to eat pernil, arroz con gandules, and drink coquito, which looks like eggnog and is made with rum and coconut. My wife makes really good pasteles, too.

What’s your favorite gift you have ever received?

This actually happened around the holidays! I have five children and 10 grandsons. One of my daughters finally had a daughter, my first granddaughter.

Do you have any holiday traditions?

We just like to go out, sometimes on Black Friday. We don’t even shop; we enjoy walking around and looking at stores. We have our family over to our house on Christmas Eve and try to wait as late as possible to open presents. This is the first year in 30 years that we aren’t celebrating in my house; instead, we will be with our kids and grandkids and one of their homes.
